Within the Tresco Abbey Gardens there is a museum called The Valhalla Figurehead Collection.

It displays some wonderful figureheads a 3,000-year-old tradition apparently. Various bow heads including animals and kings carved to adorn the ships.

It is certainly worth a visit, but try not to go when there is a cruise ship in. Suddenly our peace and tranquillity came to an end with hordes of people getting in my way of the perfect shot! Well, that is my excuse!

people getting in my way of the perfect shot!

We met friends there including Jane Goldsworthy (PCC ) sadly only for a day, but we shared the most wonderful culinary experiences at Juliets, a well renowned restaurant with fabulous food and stunning views over the bay of St.Marys. The crab was so fresh that we had to wait for a while for it to be delivered straight off the boat. There was a downside to this amazing dining experience. No ... not seagulls but manic sparrows! You would not believe how aggressive they were! This was not the only place we experienced this problem.

They literally would kill it seemed for a cream tea. Jam first of course! We were trying to enjoy our cream tea when all of a sudden, a gentleman turned to Eve and asked “Are you the lady that lost her hat?” We half expected him to produce Eve’s precious hat, but sadly not...

We had a fabulous holiday. A photographer’s and artist’s dream location. An idyllic place to escape from the G7! Perfect timing so we missed the chaos and photo opportunities of Boris and Biden, but we much rather have been in our own little piece of paradise that’s for sure! Highly recommended if you like walking and boat trips.

fly home on the helicopter.

We were so pleased to be able to fly home on the helicopter. We felt very posh!

Only 15 minutes flight and we were down in Penzance. It was a wonderful experience! The views were spectacular from above the Scillies, however we only managed phone photos and video. Just as well, as I have only 2000 photos to sort!

All the best Derek & Karen
