Newsletter #106 1st April 2022

Editor - Derek Godridge

Last night’s meet up at the Penryn Museum proved a big hit and members collected their Treasure Hunt Test and proceeded to have a good old dig and delve in the Museum for the answers! Museum volunteers Gill Grant, Chas Wenmoth and ex Mayor Mary May helped us along the way.

Then museum volunteer and all round “font of knowledge” – Chas Wenmoth – gave us a short talk on the museum’s history featuring some of the exhibits and architectural features along with some facts about Penryn. For example, did you know that the only recorded death in the UK from an earthquake happened in Penryn !! I mean – who knew ??

After a pleasant welcome speech from Penryn’s Mayor – Julie Tucker - members moved to the main Town Hall upstairs to partake of an excellent Cornish Clotted Cream Tea and biscuits.

Western Counties Photographic Federation (WCPF) Member’s Exhibition 2022

  • This is a VERY prestigious competition and exhibition which showcases the talent we have in the West Country with prints and digital images shown at the Bovey Tracey Golf Club from 1st to 16th May.

  • We are thinking this might be an opportunity to organize a car-share for one of the days of the Exhibition, so please give it some thought. More later!

Best wishes Derek
