Editors note; This week, unusually, I have submitted different content to the newspapers. As the Packet did not publish our KF2 results last week I am re-submitting that content to them in the hope of better luck this week. For The Cornish Guardian, The Cornishman and The West Briton (which did publish all four images) I have sent the below content, including Wendy's "Poser" which was squeezed out by the KF2 images. At Last nights Zoom meeting, the Chairman informed the Members of the death of the clubs former President, Denis Scrace, a post he held for many years. A minutes silence then followed. Denis was one of the founder Members of the club when it was formed in the 1980’s. He held many Committee positions in the club during his time as a Member. He was a very proficient photographer and was held in high esteem by those who knew him. Condolences have been sent to his wife and family from the club.
The Penryn Camera Club https://www.penryncameraclub.org.uk Two weeks ago our chairman, Victor, sent us all six images to critique. This evening all the members on Zoom commented on what they liked and didn’t like in the images. They ranked them 1st, 2nd, 3rd, two highly commended and one no score, as a formal judge would do.
It was fascinating to hear different members' views on the same image. Although many members spotted some obvious flaws it was surprising to see what different folk picked from the same image. As in “real” judging the ranking was not unanimous but the main (and intended) result of the evening was to help members make an honest comment on someone else’s image, not something many of us are comfortable with.
Last week Wendy Bate won our open competition with “Poser”, an excellent out-of-camera shot. Our competition next week is ‘Pets’
