Penryn Camera Club held a members critique this week. Each member brings 1-4 images, perhaps destined for future competitions, for general review and comment. It can be daunting to both give and receive critique but it is helpful in highlighting something the photographer may have missed.
As an example; in one of the images I submitted, the members suggested we convert it to black and white as that might be more powerful. I hadn’t considered that but when we tried it an “OK” image had a much stronger impact. Many of the images received constructive comments and it was fantastic to see the range of styles covered. Underground, Seascapes, Landscapes, Portraits, B&W, Textures - a whole gambut of genres ensured a varied and enjoyable evening.
Next week an external judge will review our entries for a competition, the Ken Farnell #2. The judge comments on all images and selects the top five in each category. A chance to put into practice things we have learned over the last few months.
