Friday 4th December

We have re-opened our meeting room “The Space” and several members enjoyed Thursday’s critique and Photoshop session. Meetings every Thursday with a virtual sign-in every alternate week for those members not yet ready for a face-to-face meeting.

Eighteen entries into this week’s Open competition, which you can see either on our website or our Facebook account; Facebook.com/PenrynCC/.

This week’s winner was Bee on a Rose by Victor Tullin who has a few words on his image;

“The image of a Bee on a Rose was a concept idea to create an alternative version of taking a photo of a winged insect on a flower. The rose was a pink rose from a bunch of Valentine flowers to my wife, the bee had flown into the bedroom landing on the windowsill. Grasping my opportunity to take a photo of the bee, whilst it was otherwise preoccupied.

The idea was to create a lifelike image, not to deceive or mislead. This shows that with a bit of forward planning it is possible to create an image that you could take without the use of photo manipulation software.

This image was successful in winning the Monochrome section of the annual Cornwall Photographic Alliance competition, and selected to represent Cornwall in the Celtic Challenge.”

Next week’s competition category will be Boats. If you would like to join us and enter our competitions start via https://www.penryncameraclub.org.uk/contact-us
