Last weeks visit to the Helston Railway shot by Derek Godridge.

Our Chairman, Victor Tullin, led the members of the Penryn Camera Club in standing for a minutes silence to remember Malcolm Jenkins. An accomplished photographer, and memorable Judge who often said “It’s just a bird on a stick”. He is missed by his family and the photography world.

This week was the entry for the first of three Ken Farnell competitions. We had up to five categories to enter. Mandy organised the subjects for the first of our lucky dip competitions. These are individual set subjects and we have a month to meet the target.

Finally, Derek Godridge provided an excellent talk on “Depth of Field”. The amount of the image that’s acceptably sharp. Derek used diagrams, prints and real-world objects to help members understand this important concept. He gave examples of settings to start with for portraits and landscapes. His mantra “More F’s more depth, less F’s less depth” will help drive the lessons home. We didn’t have time for a practical session so Derek set us all some homework together with tips on achieving success.

We hope you have been following (and enjoying) our competitions either on Facebook.com/PenrynCC/ or on our website https://www.penryncameraclub.org.uk.
