Editors note; A nightmare to write this week as we had our first formal competition (six categories = piles of names to squeeze in) - Newspapers don't like lists but winners like to see their names so I have gone with two submissions this week - fingers crossed one works!

Penryn Camera Club adventured into the deepest Helston countryside to find the Helston railway. Knowledgeable and photo-friendly staff and rolling stock made the day very enjoyable. The weather held for us and cream teas (or other lunchtime treats) from the cafe rounded off a pleasant and productive visit. Some images are already on our Facebook page, and I am sure some will pop up in future competitions.
Later that same evening we had our first two formal competitions judged by Bruce Hobbs. He spent time on each (of the 106) images advising what worked and what needed tweaking. Each competition has three sections; Digital, Prints and “Off-camera” (i.e. no photo editing). This allows members of all abilities and software capabilities to compete equally while providing some challenges for our advanced members. All images are viewable on our website under “Gallery”.
